Of the things we think, say and do... ![]() Although new, our Club already has an active history in the community and beyond. Here is a partial list of projects of which we have been involved. Service Above Self Award Serving others without regard to personal gain or recognition is a key principle of Rotary. It is for this reason why we have instituted a "Service Above Self" award. To be eligible for this award, the candidate must be under the age of 18 and reside within the East Lake / Oldsmar community. This will be awarded monthly to the candidate who best epitomizes the spirit of volunteering and giving to the community.Countryside High School Career Center Along with the Rotary Club of Safety Harbor, we have provided the Career Center at Countryside High School with furniture, computers, and other equipment.Adopt-A-Street Program Our club, in cooperation with the City of Oldsmar and in the spirit of community service, has adopted Saint Petersburg Drive West in Oldsmar and will help maintain the road.Tampa Bay Futures Golf Classic We have been working with The Futures Tour to organize and run this great women's golf tour event March 2005 at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club. The Futures Tour is committed to developing the skills and dreams of women golfers, establishing role models for youth and creating LPGA stars for tomorrow.Juvenile Arthritis Summer Camp Arthritis Foundation: We have provided funding to help send over one hundred local children afflicted with Juvenile Arthritis to summer camps.East Lake Woodlands Charity Tennis Tournament We are pleased that we've been able to provide assistance to the East Lake Woodlands Memoraial Day Weekend Charity Tennis Tournament. To date we've helped raise over $35,000 for the Arthritis Foundation!Clearwater Classic Cycling Event We also provided assistance to the Clearwater Classic Cycling Event.Hurricane Relief American Red Cross: We have provided funding, which was matched by Progress Energy, to the American Red Cross to aid in their efforts to help the many hurricane victims.Water Wells in Nigeria Rotary International: We have provided funding, which was matched by both Rotary District #6950 and Rotary International, to dig new water wells in Nigeria.Wheels of Success We have provided funding to Wheels of Success, which helps people without transportation get to work.Poncho Effort Rotary's Camp Florida: We, with the help of Wal-Mart, have provided ponchos for the children at Rotary's Camp Florida to help weather the rainy season.
